There are many fields of study that the students may choose in order to apply to colleges in Cyprus. But Cyprus is well-known for the study of Hotel/ Hospitality and Tourism Management Programmes. Most of the colleges in Cyprus offer diplomas and under-graduate programmes in Hospitality Management. Moreover, at present, the permit of working (called paid practical training) is only given to the students of hotel and hospitality fields.
An applicant wishing to study at any Cyprus college/ university is generally required to submit the following items in order to apply for admission: 1. application form of college with a non-refundable application fee charged by the college; 2. High School records: attested/translated; 3. English language ability: TOEFL/ IELTS (if taken); 4. a bank letter or financial support letters of more than US$ 10,000 per year; 5. a letter of good conduct or police report; 6. migration certificate; and passport copies.
The students who haven not taken their TOEFL/ IELTS tests or passed GCSE (GCE) O' level English should sit for the EPT (English Placement Test) administered by the college to decide on the candidates’ English competence.
In Cyprus, the educational system is such that the colleges here accept 12th-Grade students in the Bachelor’s level or at the Diploma level. All Indian graduates are also accepted for the Master’s Programmes.
In Cyprus, there are three semesters in a year in the colleges. Fall Semester (Oct -Jan), Spring Semester (Feb -May), and Summer Semester (June -July). Most of the colleges offer all the courses in the Fall and Spring Semesters but there are very limited courses in the Summer Semester. A majority of the international students enter Cyprus for the Fall Semester (October).
